12 Tags of Christmas Week 12
Hurray! I finished the 12 Week Challenge with one day to spare!
This week I was inspired by the color scheme and the cute little pocket at 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style Week 12. I wish I'd had some of the Weathered White Antiquities Embossing powder sold at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.
I started with some moss colored CS and double stamped the Christmas Tree image from Hero Arts with Old Olive and then with Forest Moss. The 'pocket' was a circle die placed on the edge of a Jumbo Manila Tag, then inked with Antique Linen Distress Ink and tiny snowflakes stamped with Mellow Moss ink. The sentiment is from Art-C Stamp and Cut set. I added the little postage stamp pieces from the Graphic45 Place In Time 8x8 paper pad.
Here is the inspiration piece from Linda Coughlin:
12 Tags of Christmas #11
I think this is one of my favorites, mainly because I tend to stick too closely to the inspiration piece and don't really make it my own. Even though I used several of the same elements this week, the embossed snowflakes, the scalloped doily die, I was happy my tag wasn't an exact copy of the inspiration piece for 12 Tags of Christmas 2016 Funkie Junkie Style Week 11.
I used the snowflakes and the sentiment tag from a Stamp and Cut set from Art-C, the Santa image is from a 6x6 paper pad by My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Christmas, the 'snowflake' base is from Little Yellow Bicycle 6x6 paper pad, Once Upon a Christmas, the DSP base is from Reminisce, Santa's Sweater, and all added to the Jumbo Manila Tag purchased from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.
Thanks again, Linda Coughlin, for the wonderful inspiration.

12 Tags of Christmas #10
Well I was able to get Week 9 and Week 10 completed a couple of nights ago, but just now found the time to be able to post them...I really shouldn't stay up so late working on these projects, I tend to rely too heavily on the inspiration pieces. I'm using this one for 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style Week 10
Inspiration piece courtesy of Linda Coughlin at the Funkie Junkie Boutique:
and also for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Let There Be Snow.
12 Tags of Christmas #9
This was a little different, and I was tempted to just make a tag, but I do need a couple of Gift Card holders so I just went with it! I sewed a button in order to slip the top of the flap under and then just added the twine for decoration. I needed a masculine gift card holder so I kept it pretty simple. Here's the inspiration piece from 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style-Week 9
In retrospect, I wish I had not added the shimmer to the sentiment tag so the red would have 'popped' like Linda's! Getting down to the wire though with all my trips down to the valley for the past two weeks to visit hubby in the hospital, he finally got to come home last night and is doing much better.

12 Days of Christmas #8
I loved the little Christmas Greeting vintage image from the inspiration piece for 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style-Week 8. For this one I used this cute Santa image from Graphic 45 'Place In Time'. The sentiment is from a brand new set from Precious Remembrance called 'Oh Christmas'. The banner is from Stampendous 'Jumbo Vintage Santa'. The little Christmas Tree 'Cookie' is from an after-Christmas floral pick clearance sale at Michael's. Once again, thanks for the inspiration!
12 Days of Christmas #7
Well, it's been a hectic week, but I was able to finish a couple more tags for the 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style. I've enjoyed this challenge so much because Linda Coughlin from The Funkie Junkie Boutique provides the starting point with her great inspiration pieces, and then I get to use some of my hoarded stash in order to justify buying fun new stuff!
Here is the inspiration piece from Week 7:

12 Tags of Christmas #6
I love kraft and white with a touch of red...so this was an easy inspiration piece for me to follow. Again, it's a quick one, have to get up really early to head back down to the hospital. The background is embossed with Texture Paste from the same Spellbinders Impressabilities Snowflake stencil that I used on one of the earlier inspiration pieces. I used the Cricut 'A Child's Year' cartridge for the silhouette image of the two kids with the Christmas tree. The JOY is from a little company called Skipping Stones Design.
Here is the inspiration piece from 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style-Week 6. Isn't it lovely?! I'm hoping I can create a few more before the December 19th deadline!

12 Tags of Christmas #5
A couple of quick posts...I made #5 and #6 of the 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style, and then hubby and I took a trip to see the grandkids for Baby Girl's 1st birthday...then hubby ended up in the hospital with some pretty serious heart issues. I'm not sure if I'll have a chance to finish the challenge, but wanted to post the ones I finished. I didn't have the Christmas die set so I used my December 25th Cricut Cartridge Mistletoe image. The sentiment is masked from a large Stampendous background stamp called appropriately 'Christmas Background'. The background is from an old piece of 7gypsies designer paper.
I really like the vintage feel of this one even though I left it pretty simple. Here is the inspiration piece:

12 Tags of Christmas 2016 #4
Well, I am slowly getting caught up on my tags for the challenge, this is Week 4 at 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style. I like the Core'dinations Gemstones cardstock showing through the Tim Holtz die cut...I wish I'd have had the Poinsettia die to use from Linda Coughlin's inspiration tag below.
And, once again, using this tag for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog Simon Says: Trio-Tastic for the three poinsettia embellishments.
12 Tags of Christmas 2016 #3
For Week 3 of the challenge at 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style I drew inspiration from the gold embossing paste on the black background and the sweet black and gold tag. I didn't have any gold embossing paste so I used a technique from Tim Holtz February Challenge to use Texture Paste and Gold Embossing Powder (while the paste is still wet) and then heat the embossing powder after it has dried. The tag was created with the Tim Holtz Snowman Blueprint Framelits W/Stamps set...I love the way the frame turned out using Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder.
Below is the inspiration Piece:
I also enjoyed the challenge this week over at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog - Simon Says: Trio-Tastic to use 3 of something on your project, so for this challenge I used 3 snowflake embellishments.

12 Tags of Christmas 2016 #2
This is the second 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style, Week 2. As usual, I love all of the elements of Linda Coughlin's tag, but don't have all of the fun tools at hand so I improvised. This is her inspiration piece for week 2:
I love the effect of the brushed on gesso, and the inked stencil, the tiny snowflakes, and the red dots. The deer is adorable...mine appeared to be in flight so I attached it to the die cut 'Noel'.
I had a really hard time getting started because I couldn't figure out whether to use the Jumbo Manila Tag or the #8 Manila Craft Tag...then I read on one of Linda's posts how she attaches the manila tag to chipboard to give it more stability...well I had some chipboard tags which were in between the two sizes of manila tags so I trimmed down the Jumbo Manila Tag to fit the sturdy chipboard tag, which is 3 1/2 x 7...worked out perfectly!
Thanks, Linda for the great inspiration!
12 Tags of Christmas 2016 #1
So, I am excited to finally post my first 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style-#1.
Each week Linda Coughlin, owner of The Funkie Junkie Boutique, posts an inspiration piece for us to take whatever element catches our eye and make a creation of our own. I love the inspiration pieces so much I typically use a lot of her elements and ideas in my own piece. This is a picture of her first inspiration tag.
I love the sparkly stars made with texture paste through the Tim Holtz Mini Stencil, and the musical score in the background. I've been holding on to a metal accent tree for quite a while, waiting for the perfect project and it seemed to fit well for this challenge.
Thanks for stopping by, I'll post my #2 tag later today!

12 Tags of 2016 November-Bountiful Harvest Thanksgiving
Hi there, this is my submission for 3 challenges:
Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016 - November
Frilly and Funkie-Bountiful Harvest Challenge
Simon Says: Thanks/Thanksgiving
I'm happy to post this Fall/Thanksgiving project so I can begin posting my Christmas Challenges I've been working on!
The first challenge is a Technique Remix challenge to use the techniques of Rub Resist and of Dimensional Coloring. I don't have very many remnant rubs so I rummaged through some of my old stash and found a couple I thought might work for this technique; I like the results created with this technique, so I may have to pick up some of Tim's Remnant Rubs which are a more current style. I always love the texture of the corrugated cardboard and mixed with the cork adds great dimension.
For the second challenge, Bountiful Harvest, I like the wheat image from the Tim Holtz Cling Stamp-Halloween 2, which I purchased from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.
For the third challenge, Thanksgiving, I like the GATHER and the wheat combined to symbolize our upcoming Thanksgiving feast!
Thanks for stopping by, and a Happy Thanksgiving to all!

12 Tags of 2016 October-Vintage Halloween
I made it just in time for the Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016 October Challenge. I didn't have the monster die cut so I improvised with an old image from my stash. I did have fun with the collage background though.
I also like this for the Vintage Halloween Challenge over at Frilly and Funkie.

Vintage Halloween
The current challenge over at Frilly and Funkie is to create something with a vintage Halloween feel. I've always liked the little Greeting Card Kids from this old Stampin'Up set so I dragged it out and dusted it off since it reminded me of some of the vintage Halloween images. The decorative strip at the bottom of the card is from Graphic 45 and the little embellishment tags are from an old set of die-cut journaling stickers from Making Memories. I figured since Halloween is tomorrow, I'd better get this submitted!

Dragonfly Wings
I made this birthday card for my daughter in law based on the current challenge over at Frilly and Funkie - Things With Wings.
I am a big fan of dragonflies...and of bronze embossing powder...and of my new Tim Holtz Mini Layering Stencils Set 3 (Brick) which was one of my recent choices over at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. The Funkie Junkie Boutique is the sponsor of Frilly and Funkie Blog Challenge, and I was lucky enough to be chosen as a random winner of one of their challenge gift certificates. The Dragonfly Vine is from Stampendous, but may have unfortunately been discontinued. The 'leaves' are from Prima and I've had them FOREVER, so they may be discontinued as well. I've got to use up all my old stash so I can buy more!
Anyhow, I hope she likes her card...her birthday is the first of October and she loves Halloween so last year the card was totally Halloween inspired, hopefully this will have enough fall flair for her to enjoy!

Know you're gettin' old...
This is a birthday card I made to go with the challenge this week over at Simon Says Stamp 'At The Movies'.
When I read the theme, I immediately thought of the cute Charlie Chaplin stamp I purchased several years ago from Stampers Best. The product showcased with this weeks theme is Spellbinders. I thought about trying to make some gears look like an old film tin, then I thought of using the Deckled Rectangle die to imitate an old photograph. Then I began to think of a card I could use with that theme. My oldest son is having a birthday soon and he's a non-traditional sort of guy...usually I try to add a Steampunk flair...but he does like black and he did purchase a vintage car at one point! So, I added the antique car from the Tim Holtz set, Visual Artistry, The Journey and the funny sentiment from Skipping Stones Design, You Know You're Gettin' Old Birthday set. I hope he will enjoy his card and appreciate the time and thought that went into creating it...

12 Tags of 2016 - September
I wasn't quite sure how to approach this month's tag, I didn't have all of the supplies listed for the new technique, so my challenge was to reach a similar effect with what I had on hand. I've also been trying recently to include what's been going on in my life each month with the 'theme' of my tag...Alaska cruise, wedding, eyes (cataracts)...so when hubby went fishing on Sunday I had a free day to play in my craft room and found myself thinking of 9/11. So this is what I came up with for the 12 Tags of 2016 - September challenge.

12 Tags of 2016 - August
Well, it's hard to believe that August has come and gone so quickly. We took a family trip to Alaska at the end of July into the first week in August, then a quick turn-a-round trip to Las Vegas where my son was married at the Chapel in the Clouds at the top of the Stratosphere. So I decided to use the wedding as my theme for the Tim Holtz-12 Tags of 2016-August Challenge.
The wedding colors were red, black, and white...the wedding party wore black Converse tennis shoes (even the bridesmaids in their red dresses) and the bride and groom wore red Converse tennis shoes. I originally wanted to use light gray for my background, but found I didn't have any gray stain...so my red background looks slightly pink!
The Technique Remix challenge this month was to use a brayered stain background and a frameworks technique with various textures inside the die cut frame. I reached way back into my stash (about 12 years maybe?) to use the metal tag about marriage...I knew I'd find the perfect use for it one day ( #craft hoarder!)
Anyhow, thanks, as always, for stopping by! Reading your comments makes my day!

Small World- Halloween Book
As I mentioned in my previous post, the challenge over at Frilly and Funkie is to make or alter something small in a Shabby Chic or Vintage way. At first when I thought of altering this little book, I was hesitant to use a Halloween theme since it is still 2 months away; but at the same time I was excited to use my new Stampers Anonymous Halloween 2, purchased from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.
The images in this set are small (about 1 1/2 x 2") so I gathered some old Halloween stamps to incorporate into my little book. Halloween is actually one of the few holidays I decorate for and I now have an 'art niche' which the little book will fit into nicely in the little vignette. I picked up the little blank book about 4 years ago in a dollar bin (had to search for it since the recent move!), and I'm embarrassed to say how little I've used some of these old stamps...a couple of the packages had not even been opened after about 5 years.
So, I made up 8 little 'pages' to start with and added them to the little blank book.

Small World-Small Gift
It's a Small, Small World over at Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog. The challenge this week is to make or alter something small in a shabby chic or vintage way...this one isn't too vintage or shabby chic, so I started another project which I'll post later; but it was small so I decided to share anyhow. I was recently given a wine stopper and the paper insert wasn't covered with any type of sealant so I decided to alter it as a gift for my neighbor who mentioned she needed a wine stopper!
So I searched my stash for some 'small' stamp images to fit inside the 1 1/4" circle.
I came up with a few oldies and was going to use the little hummingbird image (my neighbor does NOT like hummingbirds...in her previous neighborhood they were rampant and she always felt like she was being 'dive bombed' when she went out on her deck...insert me being sarcastic!) Anyhow, my hubby liked the 'Enjoy' since after all it is intended for use as a wine stopper! So I decided to use the hummingbird, attached to a Tim Holtz Fragments Charm, as a gift tag...and I was able to use my new Tim Holtz Mini Stencil to decorate the gift box... I was so happy with it I think I'll search for more wine stopper blanks to make as gifts!

All Lined Up - Birthday
It's been a busy year for my middle son...engagement, wedding, new baby, and his birthday in about 10 days...so I thought this piece of old scrapbook paper would fit perfectly for his birthday card this year as well as for the challenge at Frilly and Funkie - All Lined Up.
This challenge is to 'think in straight lines! Be it rows or columns, stripes or even grids'. As always the Frilly and Funkie Team has some awesome inspiration for the challenge...pop on over for a visit.
