Sketch Tuesday #74 at Skipping Stones Design

Wow, April has simply flown by! Today is my birthday so I thought I'd take the day off work and hope some inspiration will come my way so I can play in my craft room!

I can't believe it's the last Sketch Tuesday of the month already.  We have so enjoyed the great sketches this month and the awesome Guest Designers and their lovely creations.  This sketch was perfect for the cute little doily I've been dying to use, combined with Skipping Stones Design Cancer Schmancer!  I hope you'll join us once again, and be sure to use SSD 74 if you link to any on line galleries.

Mojo Monday - Designed by:

My baby boy turned 20 on Friday and I used this new 'Designed by' stamp from Technique Tuesday, along with a background stamp from Pumpkin Seed Sentiments and a sentiment from Green Birthday, both from Skipping Stones Design and combined them with the Mojo Monday 185 Sketch Challenge.  Also used some Grunge Board for the arrow and a star brad and twine from Stampin' Up.

Do you think it's close enough to the sketch challenge?

Tips and Tricks-Laughing Cow and Bunnies

Hi there ~ Barb's turn for Tips and Tricks Thursday.  I love this new Laughing Cow Cheese as much as I love re-purposing the cute little container.  My boys are worried I'm becoming a hoarder because I keep so many different containers with the ambition of re-purposing all of them!  And... I couldn't resist spotlighting this cute set from Skipping Stones Design, Chocolate Volume #1,  just in time for Easter (by 'just in time' I mean there's still time to order this set for Easter).

Here are the supplies you'll need:

Start off by peeling the label off the container, cutting a 4" circle from background paper, stamping the image and paper piecing the little bunnies.

...then apply some Mod Podge to the top of the container (it acts like glue and a sealer)...

...apply the 4" circle, let dry a few minutes, apply the bunnies and another coat of Mod Podge...

...apply ribbon around the edge of the container (with Mod Podge)...allow to dry (if there are dark spots apply a coat of Mod Podge on top of the ribbon)...

...and finish it off with a few embellies...

...perfect size for candy or even a gift card!

Thanks for stopping by, now go find a container to re-purpose!

Sketch Tuesday-Fight Global Warming!

I got the inspiration for the layout from Skipping Stones Design April Guest Sketch Artist, Laurie Schmidlin.  This is challenge SSD 71.  We also have two new Guest DT members for April, Mona Pendleton and Diana Fisher.  Be sure to visit and play along with Sketch Tuesday at Skipping Stones Design.

I got the inspiration for the color from Play Date Cafe Challenge #75.

Thus the silver cake plate...I used the metal embossing technique I did several weeks ago for the Skipping Stones Design 'Tips and Tricks Thursday'.  It was quite simple really, I stamped the image from SSD set, Green Birthday on the back of a Spellbinders metal sheet, waited a couple minutes for the ink to dry, then used my stylus to emboss over the image, then flipped it to the front side and trimmed with my little pair of craft scissors.  I was pretty excited how the little cake stand turned out!  The original tutorial can be seen on my blog at this link: Tips and Tricks-Metal Embossing.
