Tips and Tricks - Heat Embossing on Metal

Hi there!  It's Barb and time for another Tips and Tricks Thursday with Skipping Stones Design.  A while back I did some embossing on metal by stamping the back and using a stylus to dry emboss.  This time I wanted to use metal again, but with heat embossing...so gather a few supplies:
You'll need some metal sheets like these from Spellbinders, a Versamark pad, some embossing powder, a heat tool, and a stamp...I really like dragonflies so I used this great set from Skipping Stones Design called Always Here.  Ink up your stamp with Versamark and stamp on the metal:
Then trim around the image...it's super easy to cut the metal with an ordinary pair of craft scissors.
I also stamped the image onto this metal tag to use later:
Add the dragonfly to a card along with some ribbon, a little bling, heat emboss a sentiment, and you're done:
I love the filigree design on the wings.  I used Sentiment Frames for the 'Congratulations', it's perfect for heat embossing!

National Scrapbook Day ~ Skipping Stones Design Style ~

Happy National Scrapbooking Day, Skipping Stones Design style!!   We have put together a Blog Hop with some of our past and current FABULOUS designers.

If you just arrived from Julie Masse's  blog, then you are in the right place!!  Hop along and see all the fabulous Scrapbook pages  made with Skipping Stones Design stamps!!!    I promise you will like what you see!!!!

I tend to use clean, simple lines in my layouts, I think because I don't have many opportunities to use a feminine touch since I have all boys...

My first page was made using one of the images from Garden Stamp Kiss

...the more I use this set, the more I love it!

and Dandelion Dreams

...a really versatile set

The second page of my layout I used Dandelion Dreams again

and the bookplate tag was made using a very faint Pumpkin Seed Sentiment background along with a quote from the set Always Here

I hope you can see the versatility of these great stamps for cards or for scrapbooking.

Leave a comment on each blog (some are giving away prizes) and when you have finished, go back to the beginning at Skipping Stones Design and leave a comment, telling us what you thought of the hop.  One lucky commenter will be chosen Wednesday, May 11th to win the Skipping Stones Design brand new May release stamp set!!!

Your next stop along the way is the very talented Laurel Seabrook.

SSD063-Skipping Stones Design Sketch Tuesday

We just returned home from a road trip (Utah to California and back) for a memorial service for my brother who was killed in a car accident.  He had so many good friends and it was great to be there to support his boys.  I wanted to incorporate a masculine sympathy card for my grown up nephews with the sketch for this week from Lea Lawson.  I love the sentiment on the base of the card from Healing Wings (SSD) as well as the tag sentiment from Always Here (also SSD).  I found some great DSP in my stash that looked a little grunge and grey...hopefully the flower didn't take away from the masculine feel of the card.  I think all three boys really liked their cards and the sentiment conveyed.  Here's a close up of the base sentiment:
And for the boys, I really am "always here for you".

Sketch Tuesday #62 at Skipping Stones Design

I used Heartsong for the musical background and Always Here for the sentiment...just a really quick little card.  Check out the rest of the great stamps that come with both of these sets over at Skipping Stones Design.  And then be sure to play along with the Stamp Tramps this week with a great sketch from Lea Lawson.

Skipping Stones Design-Always Here

I am so totally excited to have been chosen to be one of the 'Stamp Tramps'!  That just means that I get to be on the design team for this awesome company.  I have loved all of their witty sayings and wonderful designs for some time and they just keep getting better.  I have been so inspired by the former Stamp Tramps and hope I can keep up with the current 'oh so talented' team.

This is a gorgeous set that was just released at last week's Skipping Stones Design Blog Hop.  Click here for the Always Here set.  I was on vacation in Yellowstone and didn't have a chance to play along but hop on over to Skipping Stones Design to see some of the wonderful creations!  Stay tuned because we'll be having another great Blog Hop on the 15th.
