Skipping Stones Design #87-Victorian Summer Butterflies

I stamped the butterflies from the new set Victorian Summer in Blushing Bride on white cardstock, then stamped them again in White Craft ink on pink vellum, cut them out and added some pretty pink pearls.  I really don't use pink very much, tend to lean more toward the masculine or earth tones, but I like the way the vellum and pearls turned out.  I also changed up the sketch a little, which is odd for me, I usually follow the sketch to a fault!

Check out the other DT members creations at Skipping Stones Design.   Be sure to play along and use SSD 87 if you upload to any on line galleries. Here's the sketch for this week:

Here's our great line up for August:
Sketch Artist - Teri Anderson
Guests - Karen Baker, Kryssi Ng, Maureen Plut, Stephanie Mino

Feature Friday with Skipping Stones Design and Play Date Cafe!

Hi there!  TGIF!  Today I have the opportunity to showcase one of my favorite 'Oldies but Goodies' from Skipping Stones Design.  This was the second set I purchased way back when (if you go to the shop, the oldest sets are at the very bottom).  This is called Margarita Birthday and has some fabulously funny sayings:

And not only that, Play Date Cafe #83 is sponsored this week by Skipping Stones Design!  Go to their site to find more awesome creations using the following color scheme challenge (Black and White with a Splash of Green) and some great stamp sets!

Hope you have a fabulous holiday weekend!

Sketch Tuesday-Fight Global Warming!

I got the inspiration for the layout from Skipping Stones Design April Guest Sketch Artist, Laurie Schmidlin.  This is challenge SSD 71.  We also have two new Guest DT members for April, Mona Pendleton and Diana Fisher.  Be sure to visit and play along with Sketch Tuesday at Skipping Stones Design.

I got the inspiration for the color from Play Date Cafe Challenge #75.

Thus the silver cake plate...I used the metal embossing technique I did several weeks ago for the Skipping Stones Design 'Tips and Tricks Thursday'.  It was quite simple really, I stamped the image from SSD set, Green Birthday on the back of a Spellbinders metal sheet, waited a couple minutes for the ink to dry, then used my stylus to emboss over the image, then flipped it to the front side and trimmed with my little pair of craft scissors.  I was pretty excited how the little cake stand turned out!  The original tutorial can be seen on my blog at this link: Tips and Tricks-Metal Embossing.

Sketch Tuesday #56 at Skipping Stones Design with Play Date Cafe

Hi there ~ is everyone ready for Christmas?  I've got all of my shopping done but as usual I haven't wrapped one gift!  Even the two I need to mail to California for my niece and nephew!  I know, I need to get off the computer and wrap them so I can get to the post office tomorrow at lunch.  But before I do that I want to share my take on this week's Sketch Tuesday at Skipping Stones Design.  Here is the sketch for you to play along, be sure to use SSD 56 if you link to any online galleries.

I flipped the sketch upside down so I could fit the reflection of the cute little penguin from the new set Brrthday.  I also thought this set would be perfect for the color challenge at The Play Date Cafe to use Black and White with a splash of Yellow:

Here's a close up of my take on PDCC#60:

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season!
