Hippie Birthday

 

I have a good friend who will turn 70 next week, and when I asked her for some clues for her card, she told me "Glitter, and I'm a hippie turning 70", I said, "that's a good start!" I very rarely do glitter, but I had some red Stickles, and some red glittered ribbon...good enough! I pulled out some old BoBunny Cardstock Stickers and some retired papers and stamps and went to work. I think she'll like it!

Celebrate

I used a 'retro' Dymo Label Maker for the CELEBRATE word strip...I'm going to have to see if I can find some black tape, I love the raised embossing. I also used the tiny Thinlits stencil dies from Tim Holtz Gift Card Bag for the hashtag and stars, and the Mini Blueprints, and Things clear stamps.

 

This CELEBRATE card will come with a VISA Gift Card for a 15 year old boy...I'm sure a 15 year old will love to celebrate with a credit card!

Home for the Holidays

 Well, I was going to post this to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

The challenge was 25 Days of Christmas Tags, but alas, the link closed early!

I am also posting this to the fun blog TFJB Challenge Blog.

The Funkie Junkie Boutique Challenge for this period is Home is Where the Heart is.

When I decided to make a tag instead of a card, the image from this stamp from Stampendous was too large, so I cut an oval with my die cutting machine for a template and then stamped inside the oval. I then used some gesso to make the first sentiment pop. I like the way the 'holidays' stamp shows up with embossing powder. I then die cut some greenery and pinecones from Tim Holtz Festive Greens, and added a sweet metal snowflake (from Funkie Junkie Boutique) and a little silver jingle bell and some ribbon dyed with Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge Distress Ink.

I got to play with some of my new distress inks and used my Texture Fades 3D Embossing Folder for this challenge at Simon Says Stamp-Monday Challenge

 This is for my son's birthday, and for his last birthday I used the same folder but it was a silver metallic look, so I wanted to change it up and make it a little more distressed. He's always been a bit of a Steampunk, Grunge kind of guy!

 I have lots of stencils, but really, really, need to take time to play with them! I was happy to see the challenge at TFJB Challenge Blog.

And, I was excited to see my new goodies from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

This is in just under the wire since I just made it home from a little road trip!

 

Christmas in July

This is for the TFJB Challenge - Christmas Cards In July

I've been meaning to try out this Tim Holtz 3D folder for a while now and just hadn't found the right project for it. So, even though I probably would have chosen a different background for the Christmas theme, I'm happy with the results...the swirls in the 'Elegant' folder remind me a little of the boughs of a Christmas tree. I wanted to use the technique where you use Bundled Sage Distress Oxide Ink with the Bronze Distress Metallic Crayon, but alas, I purchased the Bundled Sage in the normal Distress Ink, not the Distress Oxide, so it didn't turn out as I'd hoped. So, I used the Bronze Distress Metallic Crayon and then used (finally) some really old Dreamweaver Metallic F/X shimmery powder called Eye of the Tiger, which brought out a little more pink to the bronze. I wanted to try another shot at this 3D folder in green for the Christmas in July entry, but I have to work tomorrow and am running out of time!

The ornament stamp is from a company no longer in business, Skipping Stones Design, and stamped in Versamark and Ranger Embossing Powder in Copper.  The bow die is from Tim Holtz Festive Greens.

I tend to keep the cards fairly simple so they can be mailed more easily.

The majority of the product used for this card is from The Funkie Junkie Boutique...thank you for the generous gift certificate for the random drawing in past challenges, which allows me to have so much additional fun shopping!

Just a note to say...

The theme at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is Early Birds...so, I needed a birthday card this week...and she likes to sing and enjoys gardening and loves vivid color.
