Christmas in July

This is for the TFJB Challenge - Christmas Cards In July

I've been meaning to try out this Tim Holtz 3D folder for a while now and just hadn't found the right project for it. So, even though I probably would have chosen a different background for the Christmas theme, I'm happy with the results...the swirls in the 'Elegant' folder remind me a little of the boughs of a Christmas tree. I wanted to use the technique where you use Bundled Sage Distress Oxide Ink with the Bronze Distress Metallic Crayon, but alas, I purchased the Bundled Sage in the normal Distress Ink, not the Distress Oxide, so it didn't turn out as I'd hoped. So, I used the Bronze Distress Metallic Crayon and then used (finally) some really old Dreamweaver Metallic F/X shimmery powder called Eye of the Tiger, which brought out a little more pink to the bronze. I wanted to try another shot at this 3D folder in green for the Christmas in July entry, but I have to work tomorrow and am running out of time!

The ornament stamp is from a company no longer in business, Skipping Stones Design, and stamped in Versamark and Ranger Embossing Powder in Copper.  The bow die is from Tim Holtz Festive Greens.

I tend to keep the cards fairly simple so they can be mailed more easily.

The majority of the product used for this card is from The Funkie Junkie Boutique...thank you for the generous gift certificate for the random drawing in past challenges, which allows me to have so much additional fun shopping!

Just a note to say...

The theme at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is Early Birds...so, I needed a birthday card this week...and she likes to sing and enjoys gardening and loves vivid color.

I miss you

Hero Arts, one layer card...this one is for my 4 year old grandaughter, who lives 6 hours away, so we don't get to see her as much as we'd like.  I like to send them candy treats with a handmade card, what kid doesn't like to get happy mail?  Especially when candy is involved.

This is my second entry for the challenge at Hero Arts-Stay Crafty with Hero #11.

I used the retired Hero Arts-Operation Write Home set, Year Round Sentiment.

Hero Chance

I wanted to send a couple of cards to the grandkids with a little candy treat, so I decided to follow along with the challenge at Hero Arts-Stay Crafty with Hero #11.

This challenge was to make a 'One Layer Card'.  I'm used to layering papers and adding embellishments so this was a challenge for me.  I used three different (older) sets from Hero Arts, two of which were created for Operation Write Home. Then it was looking a little bare, so I added a couple of stencils from Tim Holtz.

Patriotic

I got busy working this week and almost forgot to post my 'patriotic' easel card.

I used some very old papers I've been hoarding...bad habit I can't seem to break..."I might need them someday for the perfect layout!" I wish the Tim Holtz Paper Dolls included a couple more of this cute guy with his trumpet!

Steampunk Tardis

 I've always enjoyed adding a little steampunk to the cards for my boys, especially the oldest. I used the Tim Holtz 3D Embossing Folder for the background, and the Tim Holtz On The Edge Steampunk die for the gears 'on the edge'.

I had a hard time deciding which paper and embossing powder I wanted to use for the Hero Arts Flying Air Ship, and ended up with Distress Ink and shading.

And the reason for the name...this antique phone booth reminded me of the Tardis from the British science fiction television series, Doctor Who, a favorite of my oldest!

A Little Steampunk

 This card is for my 7 year old grandson, his first 'steampunk' card! I love the little Tim Holtz Robot Blueprint stamps for him, he loves Legos and this reminded me a little bit of Lego figures. The background is, of course, Tim Holtz 3D Texture Fades Foundry.

The inside is a Super-Hero font from Fiskars. KAPOW! clear stamp set, and the Happy Birthday Grandson from a retired company Skipping Stones Design, 'Grunge'.
