Shine Bright My Friend

TFJB Challenge Blog: Celebrate Friendship

Simon Says Stamp Monday: Sparkle and Shine

I have a good friend who is in a convalescent/rehab facility. She has had some serious medical problems for the past eight years, but recently fell and is confined to a rehabilitation center for the next six weeks. She is 71 years old but proclaims herself to be 'an Old Hippie Chick' who is, in her words, 'Still Standing'. She is a huge fan of my handmade cards and appreciates the personalized touch; she loves glitter, but I am not a fan so I compromised and used some Metallic Glitter Cardstock.

While I was creating the card with the Sparkle and Shine theme, the Pink Floyd song 'Shine on you crazy diamond' kept running through my head, it was in our genre, so I used it for the inside of the card.

I stamped the light bulbs from Professor 7 in Versamark ink and clear embossing powder, and then used the foam blender tool with Distress Ink, Iced Spruce and Rusty Hinge. I used the Thinlits Mixed Media set to die cut the harlequin pattern and inserted the glitter cardstock behind it. I stamped the Art-C Shine in black embossing powder and the Bright in white embossing powder, then the my friend (Stampendous Happy Messages) in black embossing powder. I then die cut two stars from the glitter cardstock. The sentiment inside the card is computer generated and then stamped with Skipping Stones Design Heartsong (retired)

Thanks for looking!

  1. Barb, this is not only VERY COOL (my same era in time), but it sounds like this will work perfectly to covey your love & care of your friend!
My older Sister spent nearly a year of Covid19 in the hospital, and then fell; keeping her in the nursing home since, so I definitely know the concern! May this give her a mega-watt smile!
Thanks so much for sharing- both your story and your BEAUTIFUL card- with us at The Funkie Junkie Boutique!!
