12 Tags of 2016-April

This is my version of the Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016-April challenge.  I must admit I struggled with this one a bit.  I thought I'd be able to buy the Distress Woodgrain Cardstock locally, but I couldn't find it.  But, it was an opportunity to learn a new technique with the mosaic look.  Anxious to see what the May challenge will be!

Very, happy, birthday...

The current challenge at Frilly and Funkie is Boy oh Boy...in other words, create a masculine themed project. Having three adult sons, I do enjoy making cards for them with a more masculine theme in mind.  My middle son likes sports, but the oldest and youngest are more into the 'Steampunk' style.  The first two are big fans of cats (especially the oldest), so I chose this little image for a card for him.  The cat seems so studious I thought the dictionary words and text background would fit well.

Like a fine wine...

My new neighbor and I enjoy a nice glass of wine and her birthday is coming up this week.  'Like a fine wine we get better with age', the sentiment inside says 'or rather, we feel better about our age with lots of wine!'.

I enjoyed the challenge of matching the inspiration piece from Skipping Stones Design as well as the Wednesday Challenge from Simon Says Stamp - Let's Polka.

All you need is love

One more submission for the Frilly and Funkie Challenge-Hip to be square.

I grew up in the Bay Area during the sixties and was able to go to lots of concerts during that time, like Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Quicksilver Messenger Service... I was even lucky enough to see The Beatles at Candlestick Park in San Francisco when I was a Teeny Bopper.  Many memories... so all of these songs have been buzzing around in my head ever since the current challenge!  And, I also drove a little turquoise Volkswagen Bug.  I remember in 10th grade we got 10 people in that little thing just to see if we could!

I used my new Tim Holtz Thinlits Dies to cut out the 'love' and my Ranger Mini Distress Pads to ink up the background.  I also ran across a Tim Holtz Mini Mask set purchased a long time ago and never used!

There are always lots of submissions for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge-Anything Goes, but since they are featuring Ranger products this week I thought I would add to their collection of entries.

Hip to be square...

The inspiration for this card came from The Frilly and Funkie Challenge-Hip to be square.  I may just have to try my hand at another project since this theme brought back so many memories from my teenage years in the San Francisco Bay Area in the late sixties. My brother listened to Motown, but I was always the 'little hippie'.

I also added some Glossy Accents to the 'rose colored glasses' which qualifies this for the Monday Challenge 'We can see clearly' at Simon Says Stamp. And it's 'Anything Goes' at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

This was a lot of fun, there are still a few days to join in for this fun theme!
