Breathe in the sea...

This is inspired from two challenges:
Frilly and Funkie - Oh the places you'll go
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Monochrome

I am hurrying to get it submitted before the deadline, so I'll add more details later!

12 Tags of 2016-May

So, I've been busy making cards for a fundraiser auction so I really cut this one down to the wire.  This is my take on the Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016 - May Challenge.

The challenge was to use Tissue Tape Resist and Tattered Florals techniques.  I didn't have any Tissue Tape so I made my own using Paper Tape from the bandage aisle since I'm allergic to adhesive tape and had some paper tape on hand...it worked okay, but I wish I'd had the real thing since it took a while for the ink to dry.

Green Caffeine

Challenges:
Frilly and Funkie - It's Not Easy Being Green!
Simon Says Stamp Monday - Show Us Your Metal
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday - Anything Goes

So, for the challenge at Frilly and Funkie to up-cycle or recycle something on your project, I thought I would recycle a cardboard box by decorating it to hold my K-cups...thus the coffee references!

I got to use my brand new 'Crazy Birds' set, Thinlits Mixed Media dies, and some stencils and stamps from Tim Holtz, some very old scrapbook paper and some great 'gears'.

I've been wanting to try the 'rusted metal' look on grunge board for ages! And, I love my new Thinlits dies, Handwritten Love. The 'rusted metal' technique didn't work as well on the Stampendous Clock Works stamp (I probably didn't heat it long enough), but I did like the way it showed through in the background.

I love my new Thinlits Mixed Media dies layered on top of the text background! I've also wanted to try stamping with paint resist technique, and was able to use the Tim Holtz Film Strip Ribbon which I've had for a couple of years!

I 'up-cycled' this card from a challenge a few weeks ago and added a couple of doilies and some white paint because the sentiment was just too perfect for this project and I couldn't figure out who to send the card to! These images and the sentiments are from Skipping Stones Design - Funny Coffee

My son gave me a Keurig Coffee Maker for Christmas...which seems a little counter-intuitive to being 'green' with all the little plastic containers to throw away, but I do try to use my ' 100% Biodegradable Disposable Filters' with the EZ-Cup and my own ground coffee to help offset some of the guilt!  That being said, I only have two of the refillable pods so I do like to keep some of the others on hand for when I have company.  I haven't found a favorite yet so I keep experimenting with different brands...

The little boxes they come in are a pain...thus my new decorated box...and it fits perfectly under the counter or has four different 'views' if I want to leave it on the counter!

Fun project, and I was able to use some new goodies as well as some older ones which had been neglected!

Thanks for stopping by!
