Sketch Tuesday #57 at Skipping Stones Design

I've really enjoyed working with the sketches from Maile Belles this month.  Sadly, this is the last sketch from Maile since it is the last Tuesday in December.  Can you believe it is the last Tuesday in 2010?  Boy oh boy, where did this year go?  Every year seems to slip by a little more quickly.  I had a couple of ideas floating around in my head for this sketch so I posted both - let me know which one you prefer:

Happy New Year?

Or Happy Brrrthday?

Thanks for stopping by.  Let's see what you come up with for this great sketch at Skipping Stones Design this week.  Remember to link to SSD 57

Sketch Tuesday #56 at Skipping Stones Design with Play Date Cafe

Hi there ~ is everyone ready for Christmas?  I've got all of my shopping done but as usual I haven't wrapped one gift!  Even the two I need to mail to California for my niece and nephew!  I know, I need to get off the computer and wrap them so I can get to the post office tomorrow at lunch.  But before I do that I want to share my take on this week's Sketch Tuesday at Skipping Stones Design.  Here is the sketch for you to play along, be sure to use SSD 56 if you link to any online galleries.

I flipped the sketch upside down so I could fit the reflection of the cute little penguin from the new set Brrthday.  I also thought this set would be perfect for the color challenge at The Play Date Cafe to use Black and White with a splash of Yellow:

Here's a close up of my take on PDCC#60:

 Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season!

I love vintage but I'm afraid I need more practice...but these awesome Sentiment Frames are really inspiring me, along with the Build a Brad paired with the Timeless Textures set.  This sketch from Mojo Monday was a great place to start:

 And here is the finished card for MOJO169, what do you think?

Skipping Stones Design - Holiday 'Bubble' Magnets

Happy Thanksgiving from Barb!   Hope you're spending some quality time with the family today.  And guess what...it's Tips and Tricks Thursday at Skipping Stones Design.  As an afterthought I probably should have done something with a Fall theme, but if you don't see this till Friday you should be right in the mood for some Christmas projects!

I didn't know they were called Bubble Magnets, did you?

Supplies you may not have on hand:  (local craft store)
* Decor Gems (approx. 1-1/4" diameter)
* Magnets (I used 3/4" but I think 1/2" is plenty strong)
* Glossy Accents

Supplies you probably have on hand:
* Stamps (Christmas Swirls)
* 1-1/4 punch (or cut from Cricut or by hand)
* DSP (not too heavy)
* Ink (Classic or Craft with Clear EP)

Stamp your image
 Apply small amount of Glossy Accents to the flat side
Spread to the edge (I just used my finger)
Smooth paper onto the Decor Gem
Make sure the edges adhere well

Allow to dry for a few minutes

Apply small amount of Glossy Accents to magnet
Apply magnet to back of Decor Gem

Now for the tip...
if you are making several at a time,
place the magnets far enough apart that
they don't pull off the back before they dry!

And that's all there is to it!
Stamp a cute sentiment (from Christmas Swirls)
onto a tag, wrap it with a ribbon, and you're set!

Isn't this the sweetest snowman?  This is the set I will be giving away, it's called Sassy Snow:

I think my favorite sentiment from this set is how it got its name...Sassy Snow wants to know, "Does this snow make my butt look big?"  Not only will one lucky person win this set, there is another giveaway!  A second person will win this awesome Blog Candy:

Lesley from  Christopher Pines graciously supplied the Stamp Tramps with this awesome collection of ribbon and vintage seam binding (I used the silver metallic ribbon along with the silver sheer seam binding-love how it turned out!)  Many of the other Stamp Tramps were able to use this RAK in their designs...watch for it!  Anyhow, one lucky person will win this exact collection!  Please visit her site here, and be sure to leave a comment on every stop of the Blog Hop.

And I just had to show you this cute little stamp from the set...in case you can't read it the saying is "Noticed you've been naughty, so listen here's the scoop...instead of a nice big present, you're gettin' snowman poop!"

I know this is a long one, but it's worth it!  Be sure to visit the other Stamp Tramps...your next stop on the hop is Kandi Phillips from Krafty Kandi Krafts

Christmas Swirls

Here's the other card I made for this week's challenge at Skipping Stones Design.

I love the way the border punch embosses while it cuts.  Non traditional Christmas colors for a change.  I actually made this card first but my husband liked the other one better so I took his advice. Now I can't wait to use the cute Christmas Dove that comes with this Christmas Swirls set.  Be sure to check out the other creations for Sketch Tuesday and play along at Skipping Stones Design.
